Pass Christian Parade Victims Remembered
The community remains in shock over the deadly shots fired after the Pass Christian parade on Sunday.
Tonight, a group of relatives and friends raised candles and shared a moment of silence for the two victims killed, Carlos Bates and Isaiah Major the Third. The somber event started at the BluEnvy club in downtown Gulfport. Those in attendance had the chance to pray or speak in honor of Bates and Major. Bates aunt, Charlotte Sims, fought back tears as she remembered Sunday’s tragedy that took her nephew. “He wasn’t even planning on going out there. We talked. I did his hair that night and the kids kept asking him to go and he said he wasn’t but he wanted to go and get his CDs out because they just came out. That’s how they ended up out there.”
Many who gathered tonight also pled for the violence to end so a senseless tragedy like this does not happen again. Pass Christian police are continuing the investigation into the shooting that took Bates’ and Major’s lives and also left four more injured.
