Pass Christian hosting ‘We are all Ears’ drive by reading program

Trying to get your child more enthused about reading? Well, man’s best friend might be able to help you out.

Tomorrow, the Pass Christian Library is having their “We’re all Ears” Program. This is a drive-thru program with therapy dogs to get children more excited about reading.

Visiting Pet Teams of South Mississippi will be outside with their dogs. Between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. tomorrow, parents can bring their children to see the animals and receive a reading packet to take home.

If the program is successful as they’re hoping, it’ll become a once a month program. Visiting Pets Coordinator Michael Bowin recalls the success of the event in the past when kids could read to the dogs. “It is not unusual for kids to stop reading and just stretch out alongside the dog and wrap their arms around it and just lay there for a few minutes, smiling. Their faces are pure bliss.”

The Pass Christian Library has another program to get your child excited about reading. They post story time virtual videos on their Facebook page at 8 a.m. every Wednesday.
