Pascagoula’s Sean Smith Jr. relives his home run in the Men’s College World Series
The 2026 Men’s College World Series wrapped up just one week ago, but one Mississippi Gulf Coast athlete is still making an impact long after the final out. Fresh off his trip to Omaha, Sean Smith Jr. returned home to help with the Panther Club Clinic, spending time encouraging and teaching the next generation of Pascagoula baseball players.
After giving back to his community, Smith Jr. reflected on one of the biggest moments of his baseball career—hitting the first home run of the 2026 Men’s College World Series.
“Oh, the first home run was insane,” said Smith Jr. “I blacked out and I don’t even remember running around the bases, but it was a blast. There were so many people there, and it was just like a Little League World Series, but for grown men in college.”
The home run was one of the tournament’s signature moments and capped an unforgettable experience for the former Pascagoula standout on college baseball’s biggest stage.
