Pascagoula Shooting Leaves Neighbors in Shock

The victim of an early morning shooting in Pascagoula is in the hospital in stable condition.
Police found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the body after responding to a call about a shooting around 1:30 a.m. in the 4500 block of Saratoga in Pascagoula.
The suspect turned himself into the police department about an hour after the victim was taken to the hospital. The suspect was interviewed and released. Pascagoula Police Captain Shannon Massey tells News 25 the shooting was possibly self-defense related.
Residents in the neighborhood where the shooting happened say they’re still in shock. Eddie Read lives in the neighborhood where the shooting happened. He said, “We have a good neighborhood, people watching out for each other. We know when people come and people leave. I was shocked to hear that happened this morning.” Michael Kimbrogh lives across the street from where the shooting happened. He said, “It’s usually a quiet neighborhood. There’s usually not many problems around here. All I heard was, I think, a girlfriend was involved. That’s my guess, but we didn’t hear anything.”
Pascagoula police want to inform residents that no one else was in danger at the time of the shooting. The incident remains under investigation and will be presented at the next grand jury.
