Pascagoula PD Arrest Suspect in Weekend Hit & Run

Police officers in Pascagoula believe they have arrested the driver behind a weekend hit and run. Darian Cornish and a friend were walking down Machpelah Street when she was struck by a car at the corner of Machpelah and Pecan Avenue.

The driver took off and traveled toward Moss Point. Cornish experienced several serious injuries and was taken to Singing River Hospital in critical condition. The main lead officers had was the driver was in a 2000 white Jeep Grand Cherokee. Monday, Pascagoula officers tracked down the owner of that vehicle.

Lt. Doug Adams of the Pascagoula Police Department says, “Officer Brian Alford, who’s been investigating, this afternoon located the vehicle and the suspect which led to the arrest of the suspect, Ms. Jalisha Sherrod who is a 25 year old female who’s a resident of Pascagoula. At this time, she’s being transferred to the ADC and will have a bond set some time tomorrow by the judge.”

Jalisha Sherrod will be charged with felony leaving the scene of an accident. Cornish is still in the ICU in stable, but critical condition.
