Pascagoula mayor talks new developments

Pascagoula Mayor Dane Maxwell will soon take over the Public Service Commissioner position for the southern district, but before that takes place there’s still work to be done in the city.

Mayor Maxwell stopped by our station this morning to discuss a variety of projects like the increase in residential developments.

Also, tomorrow the city will announce synchronizing the red lights on Market Street.

Under the position as Public Service Commissioner Mayor Maxwell hopes to attack issues such as putting an end to telemarketers and robocalls. “We have to really do some strong legislation. I’m interested in criminalizing those that prey on the elderly. Obviously, I want to see where we are on rates and look at the new issues coming up here in 2020.”

In order to have a smooth transition to the Public Service Commissioner position, Mayor Maxwell plans to eventually turn the Pascagoula projects over to city staff.
