Pascagoula mayor kicks off campaign for Public Service Commissioner

Pascagoula Mayor Dane Maxwell hosted a kickoff party to start his campaign for Public Service Commissioner for the southern district.

He announced his candidacy back in January.

Maxwell tells News 25 he has years of experience regarding the position, including serving as chief of staff at one point. He’s had interest in the position for quite some time, speaking with past commissioners and waiting until the time was right.

Mayor Maxwell plans to use all of his previous experience to help residents in Mississippi. “Basically, my motto is keep the rates low and get after the telemarketers. That’s my thing. That’s what I’m going to do. I am going to focus my administration on that.”

Mayor Maxwell tells News 25 he understands the importance of utilities especially overcoming a handful of natural disasters during his term.
