Pascagoula mayor and council swearing-in ceremony

The City of Pascagoula held their swearing in ceremony for the newly elected mayor and council members this evening at City Hall.

Republican Jay Willis ran unopposed for this year’s election. He is a retired dentist and consultant who has served on the board of directors for the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and the Gulf Coast Community Foundation.

During the city council meeting, photographer Ronnie Blakeney presented an original photo of the Round Island Lighthouse to the new council as a gift.

The original photo was captured in 1984 by Ronnie Shelton, but the prints were lost. A negative was found years later with some slight damage.

Blakeney helped restore the prints to preserve a piece of history.
