Pascagoula House Fire 14th Street and Jackson Avenue

A Pascagoula home is in ruins after a fire started inside Sunday afternoon.
The Pascagoula Fire Department received a call just after 3 o’clock that smoke and flames were coming from a home on 14th Street and Jackson Avenue. Firemen attempted to enter the front door but were unsuccessful due to clutter in the way. They then entered the back door and were able to put out the fire with their foam line.
Authorities tell News 25 no one was inside the home during the fire. The homeowner is currently in Jackson. Pascagoula Fire Department Deputy Chief Donnie Carlson said, “He’s been notified. I think he’ll be returning to the area sometime tomorrow. The damage is pretty severe. It got a pretty good total damage in the rear utility room by the water heater area and stuff, the kitchen. But again, there was a lot of debris in there, so lot of melted plastics and paper and whatnot.”
Just what started the house fire is still under investigation. Carlson says the fire investigator will search for a cause after the smoke clears.
