Oyster Season Starts Early October

Oyster season is right around the corner.
The state commission on marine resources voted to open oyster season at sunrise on Monday, October 3rd.
The reefs in the western part of the Mississippi Sound will be open to both tonging and dredging. The daily sack limit is 25 for dredgers and 15 for tongers.
The commission voted to set a harvest quota that did not exceed 35 percent for this year’s oyster season.
