Oyster Agency Regulations Meeting

The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources reached out to the public for input on proposed changes regarding Mississippi’s oyster aquaculture.
Enhancing Mississippi’s oyster resources through aquaculture was a top recommendation of Governor Phil Bryant’s Oyster Restoration Council.
Tonight DMR held a public meeting to hear comments and concerns on proposed amendments to oyster agency regulations. Melissa Scallan with DMR Public Affairs said, “You know you heard some of the people ask for more time to look at them and hear and digest them and understand them. The commission could vote on them or they could table it and wait until they get more public comment.”
DMR staff plans to collect all of the information from tonight’s meeting and present it to the Commission on Marine Resources later this month.
