Over 600 cars come through at Harrison County Hazardous Waste Collection Day
Harrison County and Mississippi Power helped homeowners get rid of their hazardous waste over the weekend.
The Bring It event was held at Plant Watson in Gulfport. Close to 650 cars came through the donation line, dropping off household chemicals, tires, old appliances, and batteries.
More than 120 volunteers from Mississippi Power, Harrison County, Coast Young Professionals, and the Seabee Base manned the event.
Mississippi Power Environmental Affairs Director Michael Harvey says this cleanup is a great way to reduce Harrison County’s carbon footprint. “We’re making a direct impact on the environment. All these household chemicals tires, electronic goods, that could possibly be mishandled are being properly disposed. So, what a great day to make a significant direct impact to our community.”
This year marked the 25th year that Harrison County and Mississippi Power have teamed up for this event.
