Our Lady Academy fends off St. Andrews in dramatic finish to win Class I State Title
On Saturday, five Coast teams were playing for high school soccer state championships. Three of them hailing from Bay St. Louis.
Starting with a dramatic finish between Our Lady Academy and St. Andrew’s in the Class I girls title game, played at Ridgeland High School.
The two sides played to a 1-1 draw through regulation as well as two overtime periods and two golden goal periods.
After 110 minutes, it all came down to penalty kicks with both teams making their first four attempts.
OLA’s Kennedy Leverett drilled the fifth and final shot and Lexi Ladner came through with the clutch save to knock off the defending state champs.
The Crescents finish the season with an overall record of 12-5-2.
