OSSD employees to receive COVID-19 vaccinations

Employees with the Ocean Springs School District are excited to partner up with Singing River Health System Thursday to receive their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

More than 200 Pfizer first dose COVID vaccines will be administered to those who signed up.

Now, convenience is key when it comes to the vaccinations. That’s why the time slot is from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. so teachers can get their shots before they come into work.

Also, assistants will be there to cover classrooms if need be to make sure everybody has an opportunity to get it done. OSSD Director of Student Services Grant Dickinson said, “We are all excited. From our level of administration down to the bus drivers and the kids alone, they are ready to move from class to class. Take this mask off and see each other smile again.”

Dickinson tells News 25 after Thursday, roughly 50 percent or more employees with the Ocean Springs School District will be vaccinated.
