Order of Glaucus to host their first Mardi Gras ball
After a year’s delay, the Secret Coast’s newest Mardi Gras Krewe, Order of Glaucus, is hosting its first ball this Saturday.
Since its founding in 2020, the krewe has grown to more than 30 active members, all focused on the spirit of carnival and commitment to community.
From its inception, Glaucus was designed with a year-round mission of community service. In 2021, Order of Glaucus members contributed more than 350 hours of service along the Coast from Moss Point to Gulfport.
Order of Glaucus is in the process of establishing its own charitable 501C3 scholarship foundation called harbor foundation. President Jennifer Cashin said, “This weekend we are looking forward to a lot of celebrating, celebrating our members and all of the hard work that they have done and celebrating our court members as well.”
Council member Chad Cashin said, “It’s time for us to let go and have a good time. Our members and the community deserve it. We not only have the ball; we also have parades. We do have a float that we were able to purchase and we got that up and running and we will be able to participate in two parades here coming up soon.”
Saturday’s ball theme is party like its 1699. At the ball, their first royal court will be introduced. Doors will open Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Biloxi Visitors Center. Tickets are $75.
