‘Operation Christmas Child’ returns in one week

With the holidays just around the corner, one of the nation’s most popular gift donation programs is about to kickoff.

‘Operation Christmas Child’ returns for its 2020 national collection week in just one week and drop off sites will be open across the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

This year changes were made in the donation process to ensure the safety and health of all those involved.

In addition to all donation locations having curbside drop-offs, all volunteers will also be wearing appropriate PPE. Here are a few of the other changes you can expect to see. Operation Child Rep Grace O’Loughlin said, “While your shoe boxes are being unloaded, you can scan a QR code to jump to an online form or have a volunteer collect your contact information and number of shoe boxes you’re dropping off. If you prefer to unload your vehicle yourself, a volunteer can bring an empty cart and place it next to your vehicle. When you’re done just return to your vehicle and the volunteer will take your shoe boxes.”

From November 16th through the 23rd, local drop off locations can be found at Belle Fountain Baptist Church in Ocean Springs, Bay Vista Baptist Church and Bridge Community Church in Biloxi and Gulf Coast Baptist Association in Gulfport.
