One suspect arrested in Goldin Sportsplex shooting

On August 20, 2017, at approx. 11:20 P.M., Gautier PD arrested John Michael Heflin in their jurisdiction after a foot pursuit. After booking and other procedures, Heflin was transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Facility to be held in lieu of a $250,000 bond set by Harrison County Justice Court Judge Brandon Ladner.
On August 17, 2017, at approximately 7:12 p.m., the Gulfport Police Department responded to 12000 Block of Prudie Circle for a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located a 16-year-old male victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound. American Medical Response (AMR) was summoned to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital.
During follow-up investigations, Heflin and Briceston John Lewis Fairley were developed as the suspects involved in the assault. Based on the information received, warrants were obtained for their arrests on the charge of Aggravated Assault.
Fairley is still wanted and should be considered as armed and dangerous. Anyone with information regarding this crime is urged to contact the Gulfport Police Dept. at 228-868-5959.
