One injured in shooting at birthday party in Gulfport

One man was sent to the hospital early Sunday morning following a shooting at a party in Gulfport.

At 2 a.m., Gulfport police responded to a shooting on Brentwood Boulevard. Officers were told there was a birthday party with about 70 people in attendance and as the party was ending a fight broke out and several guns went off.

A 20-year-old male victim was struck by gunfire and taken to a Biloxi hospital was he was listed in stable condition.

Several vehicles at the scene were also struck by gunfire.

One witness explains what she heard while in her own home as the incident was taking place. “Two in the morning, shots fired, called 911 this time and told them ‘shots fired.’ More than 15 shots, two separate sounding funs. Cars stalled out or it wasn’t stalled out, but there was a car in the middle of the street that had hit a truck. The car was running. I was scared to death that somebody in the car got shot.”

The witness also says she and others had contacted Gulfport police prior to the incident in hopes that they would shut down the party before something like this happened.

Anyone with information on this incident is urged to contact Gulfport police.
