One dead, Two Hospitalized in Bay St. Louis Shooting Last Night

An overnight shooting in Bay St. Louis leaves one man dead and two others hospitalized.
Police responded to a call of gunfire in the 100 block of Felicity Street around 2 a.m., where 24 old Wesley Staten was shot twice in the abdomen. He was rushed to surgery at Hancock Medical Center, but ultimately died from his wounds. Staten and one other man was shot. The second man shot suffered non-life threatening injuries. A third man, who was also hospitalized, was injured in the altercation the led to the gunfire.
An autopsy for Wesley Staten is scheduled for tomorrow.
Hancock County Coroner Jim Faulk said, “The case itself is still being investigated as I speak. It will boil down probably to the cause of death being the result of the gunshot wound to the abdomen.”
Four suspects fled on foot into nearby woods after the shooting. A search party screened the area, but the police failed to locate anyone of interest.
