Ole Miss Rebel Road Trip

The Ole Miss Rebel Road Trip made its annual stop on the Gulf Coast this morning with a much different look than this same time last year.

Gulfport native Matt Luke is set to embark on his first season as head football coach without the interim title while Kermit Davis is just 35 days into his new role as men’s head basketball coach.

Together, the two Magnolia State natives are beginning to reshape the identities of their respective programs. “I have to be myself so you can’t be somebody else, you have to be yourself. But I’m really looking forward to putting a hard-nosed, physical, tough, blue collar football team on the field, a product on the field that everybody is proud of. I think when you go through tough times, anybody can do it when it’s easy, but when you go through tough times I really think it brings our fan base and a team together, and just for everybody to be excited about the product that goes on the field,” said Luke.

Davis said, “We’re trying to brand Ole Miss basketball into a national brand. I think to try to implement culture that we need and the biggest thing, I want them to know what kind of great university they have. That I haven’t been there, I’m coming in as a college basketball coach and will brag about the facilities in place and the great leadership that Ross and Dr. Vitter have given us.”

Today’s stop was the third destination of the 2018 Rebel Road Trip which continues Tuesday in Vicksburg.
