Ole Miss now 7-0 in the NCAA Tournament after beating Arkansas Monday
Ole Miss baseball defeated Arkansas 13-5 last night in a winners bracket up matchup. Ole Miss and Oklahoma are the only undefeated teams remaining in the College World Series.
Ole Miss jumped on the Razorback pitching early, plating at least two runs in four of the first five innings. Every player reached base and four players had two or more hits. The bats were on fire led by tanks from Captain Tim Elko and Calvin Harris.
Freshman Hunter Elliot was lights out, going 6 and a-third innings while only allowing one earned run.
Ole Miss is now 7-0 in the NCAA Tournament and are one win away from the championship series. Centerfielder Justin Bench said, “They threw a pitcher in there until it got out of hand. But yeah, you know, we knew what we were doing, what our scatter report was. Just go up there and have a tough at bat and try to get each pitcher out of the game and once we did.”
Pitcher Hunter Elliot said, “Baseball is a big momentum game and we’re building a lot of momentum right now. That’s obvious what you do in the post-season. Getting hot is a true thing in baseball – keep building confidence and that’s what we look to do.”
Head Baseball Coach Mike Bianco said, “This is a big game I think, you know, either losing the first one or second one – man it’s tough to get through cause you got to get through 4 days in a row and win the next three, just to get to the championship series, so.”
Ole Miss plays the winner of tonight’s game between Arkansas and Auburn.
