Ole Miss hires Chris Beard as next men’s basketball head coach
Less than three weeks after parting ways with Kermit Davis, the Ole Miss men’s basketball program has a new head coach in the form of Chris Beard.
As first reported by CBS Sports and Stadium and later announced by the school, the Rebels hire Beard to take over a team that went just 12-21 this season.
Beard is just over two months removed from being fired by Texas following a domestic violence arrest on December 12th.
However, those charges were dropped on February 15th based on a prosecutor’s determination that they couldn’t be proved beyond a reasonable doubt.
On the court, Beard is about as capable as it gets, having led Texas Tech to the 2019 national champion game en route to winning AP Coach of the Year and has led three different programs to the NCAA Tournament since 2016.
Beard will be formally introduced tomorrow at the SBJ Pavilion.
