A conservation officer in Yalabousha County saved the life of an attempted murder victim.

Officer Brian Tallent was on routine patrol in Yalobusha County when he received a call about possible trespassing near the Holly Springs National Forest. Upon making contact with a vehicle matching a description, he found a female passenger unconscious in the vehicle.

He then performed life-saving measures and she was airlifted to a nearby hospital for injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, Michael Gray of Coffeeville, was arrested and charged with attempted murder and possession of a schedule one drug and booked into the Yalobusha County Jail.

Colonel Steve Adcock with the county jail says that “we are extremely proud of the immediate, decisive actions taken by Officer Tallent. Our prayers are with the young lady that she can fully recover from this heinous act of violence.”
