Officer Involved Shooting
Department received a call serve about a suicide threat Sunday afternoon. The deputy who first arrived on the scene became the target, as the suspect began firing a gun at the patrol vehicle. The deputy returned fire and police were able to apprehend the man identified as 38 year old James Epperson Junior. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment released and transported to the Harrison County Jail.
Harrison County Sheriff, Troy Peterson tells News 25, “The suspect was threatening suicide is the reason we were responding to the house, once we got there the suspect opened fire on the officer, the officer returned fire, currently because it was an officer involved shooting we have MBI investigating the case, so that’s where we’re at with it.”
Epperson is being held on a 100 thousand dollar bond.
