Ocean Springs Sock Hop moved to Thursday night

Cruisers and sightseers are already taking in all that Ocean Springs has to offer and the city is setting the stage for events later this week while monitoring the Gulf.

Mayor Shea Dobson says the week has gone well so far for the city, but he and other officials continue to monitor Hurricane Delta’s path and have made precautionary adjustments to the city’s Cruisin’ schedule.

Just tonight, the mayor and board of aldermen made the decision to move Friday’s Sock Hop to Thursday night in advance of the storm.

Dobson encourages visitors to the city to have fun, but remain weather aware at this time. “If anybody’s new to the area, just encourage them to heed the warnings of local officials and you know just keep an eye on the weather and you know do what’s recommended.”

Mayor Dobson says he’ll make the decision on issuing a state of emergency for Ocean Springs some time tomorrow morning.
