Ocean Springs Signing Day

Today Ocean Springs High School held its spring signing ceremony for six athletes across five different sports.

Ryan Black and Zach Anderson will be heading to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for basketball and cheer respectively. Representing the lacrosse team are Ethan Ramsey with Coker College and Jordan Walsh with the University of Montevallo.

Rounding out the class are Delta State signee Sophie St. Amant, a 6A state champion for tennis and future William Jewell College swimmer Evan Guichard.

Guichard said, “It means a lot. It means I didn’t do all of that for nothing, you know?”

St. Amant said,”I’ve been playing tennis my whole life and to just make it to the next level, it’s worth it.”

Ramsey said, “Football was my first love, but lacrosse came through and offered me way more opportunity so I just took advantage of that.”

Anderson said,”I’ve been supporting Gulf Coast all my life ever since I was little since it’s so close to home, and it’s just going to be an honor to go up there and cheer on the Bulldogs.”

Black said, “It’s a really special moment for me. I’ve been working really hard for this my whole life, and it’s just nice to see it all come into place. Probably when I got here in my 11th grade year I saw some of the other players starting to get some offers, and that’s when I really started to push hard harder and try to chase this dream.”

Overall, 14 Greyhounds signed scholarships over the course of this academic school year.
