Ocean Springs Police identify suspects in theft of Miner’s Toy Store statue

Ocean Springs police have identified two people suspected of stealing the Miner’s Toy Store Statue.

Police say David and Katja Malin are wanted for grand larceny in the theft of the statue which was recovered in pieces at two scrap yards on the Coast over the weekend.

The statue was stolen a week ago. The Malins are believed to be driving a white, unmarked box truck.

Anyone with information on the Malins is asked to call Ocean Springs police or Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers.

Due to the statue being damaged and unable to piece together, owner Merileigh Minor Furr wishes to raise money to get a duplicate statue. “I’m gonna let the police and the detectives continue their fine work and focus on the thieves, and I am gonna focus on raising funds and replacing the statue and bringing the joyful memory of my parents and the community right back here just as soon as possible.”

Look for a donation jar at the store and a GoFundMe page in order to raise money for the new statue.
