Ocean Springs Mayor Shea Dobson not seeking re-election

Ocean Springs Mayor Shea Dobson tells News 25 he will not be seeking re-election in this year’s city municipal election.

He was first elected in June 2017 and is finishing up his four-year term.

In his announcement, Dobson says he’s proud of many city accomplishments during his term, including increasing the municipal reserve fund, upgrading city technology and increasing police pay.

Mayor Dobson turns 35 this year and says that he has more he would like to achieve while he is still young. “The biggest honor of mine is serving a great community that cares about their citizens and cares about the business community and small businesses and entrepreneurs that make up this city. I want the residents to know that I appreciate their hard work and their compassion towards each other and towards the businesses and to keep being the amazing city that I’ve come to love over the years.”

The general election is scheduled for June 8th and the new term begins July 1st.
