Ocean Springs Ice Breaker Regatta

The annual Ocean Springs Ice Breaker Regatta sets sail tomorrow.

The event’s organizer won’t let the bad weather rain on their parade. There are currently 38 boats registered to compete in this national event.

People from 12 states came out to mix and mingle and partake in some healthy competition. This is the first race of the sailing season. Ocean Springs Yacht Club Vice Commodore Joe Pocreva said, “Never cancel a regatta. I’ve cancelled regattas in the past and I have had the weather change and it turns out to be beautiful. We never cancel a regatta. I am confident that we are going to get some sailing in and even if we don’t sail at all, we are all still back together, enjoying each other’s company. It is still worth it, every minute of it.”

Anyone else is welcome to come watch the race. It begins Friday at the Ocean Springs Yacht Club at 10:30 a.m.
