Ocean Springs home catches fire

An Ocean Springs woman is alive after her home on Highway 90 caught fire today.

The woman was taken to the hospital by an ambulance, but her family says she is doing well. The call came in today sometime around noon when the woman woke up to her house burning.

Her family says they are grateful to the firefighters who came to her rescue. Her 16-year-old daughter, Madalynn, who was not home at the time of the fire, tells News 25 firefighters also had to rescue three pets. “I just want to say thank you to everyone who came out to help. They did a great job. My mom is safe. She is alive. I’m just glad everyone is okay and I got to get my stuff.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
