Ocean Springs High senior starts petition for traditional graduation ceremony when it is safe to do so

The Ocean Springs High School senior class of 2020 is standing up for its right to hold a traditional graduation ceremony once it is safe to do so.

Senior Kaylee Goodwin has started a petition on change.org requesting support for an outdoor ceremony at Greyhound Stadium.

The petition comes in response to a letter sent out to all Ocean Springs seniors detailing plans for a virtual ceremony in which individual graduates would walk across the stage at separately appointed times.

As of now, the petition currently has almost 1,300 signatures mostly coming from students and parents.

Senior Class President Darby Lyndall tells News 25 the top priority is still safety without sacrificing one of the most important days of their lives.
