Ocean Springs Considers Uber Service

Uber is just one of the popular smart phone apps taking over the country with its quick and easy ride sharing process.
The company operates in nearby cities such as Mobile and New Orleans. Now, the city of Ocean Springs is hoping to bring the taxi service right here to the Coast.
News 25’s Kendra Turley is live in Ocean Springs with details.
Ocean Springs Mayor Connie Moran had her first Uber experience not too long ago and tells News 25 that Uber would be another safe travel option for those who visit bars in the downtown area. The company uses freelance drivers to pick up customers who have accounts that charge fares to their debit or credit cards. No cash is ever exchanged in the process.
City officials are set to discuss Uber and what it would take to bring it to Ocean Springs during their council meeting tonight. Uber already operates in full swing in nearby cities such as Mobile, New Orleans, and Jackson.
Harrison County previously looked into Uber services in the summer of 2015 but the company pulled out last minute after disagreeing with rules and regulations set forth by the Motor Vehicle for Hire Authority.
