Ocean Adventures Marine Park back open after Zeta

One South Mississippi attraction is back up and running after Hurricane Zeta and is ready to lure in more visitors.

Ocean Adventures Marine Park sustained damage during the storm, but the Gulfport facility was back up and running and ready for business within 24 hours after Zeta passed through, thanks to lessons learned from Hurricane Katrina as seen by the park’s generators, pumps, and other backup systems.

The dolphins are also ready to entertain and perform for big crowds again. IMMS Director Dr. Moby Solangi said, “They’re missing the public. You can come in and see the dolphins, the sea lions, the birds, the sting rays, and have fun. I think it’s important that people realize, having experience from these various storms, how to be prepared. We’re very thankful to Mississippi Power for getting our power back quickly. We’re thankful to the Governor for having provided us with masks and other things to make sure our public is safe.”

Ocean Adventures Marine Park is located off Cowan Road in Gulfport and is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. IMMS researchers are out combing beaches and other Zeta-impacted areas for stranded and injured marine life and animals that need care and rehabilitation.
