Observing Confederate Memorial Day this Saturday at Beauvoir

Tomorrow, Beauvoir will be setting the stage for observing Confederate Memorial Day.

Confederate Memorial Day is actually Monday, but for years, Beauvoir has celebrated the day the Saturday beforehand which falls on this Saturday, April 24th.

April is Confederate Memorial Month and Saturday’s ceremony is part of the month-long observation and will feature guest speakers from throughout the state.

The ceremony is free with admission to Beauvoir. Kitsaa Stevens with Beauvoir Development and Programs said, “”We have a wreath laying ceremony and the covering of the Tomb of the Unknown Confederate Soldier. We have guest speakers. We normally do our ceremony in the cemetery, but it looks like the weather won’t be cooperating, so we will move inside. Beauvoir is a rain or shine property, so if it’s sunshine or raining, we will still continue on with our event.”

The services begin tomorrow at 2 p.m.
