North Korea cancels talks with South Korea
South Korea confirms that North Korea has cancelled high-level talks planned for tomorrow between the two Koreas.
The talks were to be held in Panmunjom, the truce village in the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea.
North Korea said it was refusing to meet because of joint military exercises between the US and South Korea that began last week.
A South Korean news agency said that the North also threatened to call off a historic summit planned next month between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and President Trump.
The White House said today it was aware of the South Korean media report and the US will look at what North Korea has said independently And coordinate with US allies.
The Pentagon said the military exercise that prompted North Korea to cancel the meeting with South Korea is a routine, annual event that is purely defensive in nature.
