NOAA sets federal red snapper season

NOAA has announced that for-hire vessels with federal permits can fish for red snapper for 51 days from June 1st to July 22nd.

The recreational snapper season begins May 25th and runs through Labor Day which lands on September 3rd. There could be a possible season closure from July 9th-22nd to ensure that Mississippi’s annual quota is not met before Labor Day.

Anglers who fish for red snapper are required to register their trip through the Tails N Scales reporting program.
