“A Night at the Movies” Jazz Concert

Tonight at the Mary C. in Ocean Springs, people were able to enjoy jazz pieces from some of their favorite films.
“A Night at the Movies” is the theme of tonight’s concert, a performance by Richard Shropshire and the FHG Jazz Trio. Special guest Jacqueline Coale was also on stage providing some vocals.
Before the performance, News 25 spoke with Stacy Howell, executive director of the Mary C. Cultural Arts Center, about why music is such a vital part of the center’s programming. “We have concerts here about six times a month. We have everything from recitals to international acts like the Vienna Boys Choir. We are part of a great thriving arts community and music scene, because after you leave here you can go all the way down the street and just hear great music at all the bars and things like that. We have a lot of great talent on the Coast and especially in Ocean Springs.”
The Mary C. tries to schedule an average of six concerts per month.
