New USM Head Football Coach in Town

The University of Southern Mississippi’s new head football coach, Jay Hopson, spent the majority of National Signing Day getting to know Golden Eagle fans.
Tonight, Hopson mixed and mingled with fans here on the Coast at the Buffalo Wild Wings in D’iberville. In addition to one-on-one time with the newly hired coach, fans were able to write down questions for him to answer throughout the night. When asked about his goals for new and current football players, Hopson responded with “to develop them spiritually, mentally, athletically and socially.”
“It’s always great to get out in front of the fans and alumni, people that love Southern Miss, because that’s what’s important. We have the best fan base in America and I love it. I actually do. I did this in years past when I was an assistant coach, signing parties were always one of my favorite times,” said Hopson.
Coach Hopson and members of the USM athletic staff also made an appearance in Jackson and Hattiesburg.
