New trees planted at Ocean Springs Dog Park

The Ocean Springs Dog Park added some extra flair to the park.

The dog park added an additional twelve trees to add shade to the park for the enjoyment of the dogs and park visitors.

This project is part of the group’s focus on promoting the tree canopy in the community, a combination of live oak, chestnut oak, and willow oak trees were planted.

Environmental Committee Member Nancy Wilson tells News 25 how the trees will help benefit the environment as well as the dogs and their owners. “As we know we need trees because it sequesters carbon and manufactures oxygen. So, it’s good for the environment. It’s good for our ecosystem.”

The Ocean Springs Environmental Committee will have a drive-through tree giveaway on February 13th at the Ocean Springs Civic Center.
