New technology unveiled in Biloxi

Today in Biloxi, the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System unveiled new technology that will enhance the level of treatment provided for veterans in intensive care.
The tele-intensive care unit now provides additional support to ensure the best possible outcome for the patient. Through the push of a button, nurses can contact specially trained doctors via webcam.
The off-site staff, located in Minneapolis, is able to track the patients vital signs and lab data during real time. Interim Director Christopher Saslo said, “It gives us that extra set of eyes, not only real-time, but virtually so staff will have immediate access and the patient will have immediate access without any delays.”
At the moment, only one room in the ICU is equipped with 24/7 service. They plan on having all ten rooms with the new technology.
