New splash pad ribbon cutting in the Success community

The Success community added a new refreshing attraction to its park this afternoon.

A new splash pad opened in Saucier becoming the third in District 5 and the eighth county-maintained splash pad in Harrison County.

The project came together over the course of two years in which a new well had to be installed.

Harrison County officials also surprised the community with a frog sprinkler to show their thanks to those who have helped with the Frog Fest Fundraiser over the years. Harrison County District 5 Supervisor Connie Rocko said, “This was a community effort. This is a historical park and a lot of people use it for walking tracks and for the playgrounds and things like that. So, a lot of people wanted something a little wet North of I-10. The beach is great, but they rarely get there. Pools are very expensive and they’re kind of hazardous. Sometimes it’s a big liability. The splash pads are easy. The maintenance is pretty low on them. It’s a good place to get wet and spend the day.”

The splash pad is tentatively open from dawn until dusk.
