New Smithsonian exhibit coming to Wiggins

The City of Wiggins will be hosting a new exhibit in August.

‘Crossroads: Change in Rural America’ is a traveling Smithsonian exhibit focusing on the past and present of small towns.

The Wiggins exhibit will include history about Stone County such as the history of the lumber businesses and the pickle factory Wiggins once had.

Betsy Rowell, executive director of economic development, wants this exhibit to make the community proud of their hometown. “I think it’s a good reminder of the significant role Stone County has played in the state of Mississippi. And the growth that we’ve experienced is an opportunity for young people to remain here for their futures.”

The exhibit will be on display starting in August for six weeks at the Ferris B. O’Neal Senior Citizens Center. Afterwards it will travel to six other small towns in Mississippi.
