New Orleans Saints not looking back
After three straight seasons of going 7-9, it was a big deal for the New Orleans Saints to get back over .500 for the first time since 2013.
Sunday’s win over the Detroit Lions ended a 52 game streak of being either even or under that mark. In each of the last three years, the Black and Gold got back to level with a record of 4-4 every time, but they could never get over that hump until they finally did in week six.
Now riding their first three game win streak since 2015, Head Coach Sean Payton is encouraging forward thinking as opposed to the alternative. “Each week, they don’t look at the long history picture and I don’t encourage them to. There’s a lot of new guys on this team that haven’t been here for a year. But it’s good to play, get another win. Obviously you win two in a row and then you have a bye, but I thought it was important we played well against this team. Important for us to get a win, we haven’t played this team real well.”
The Saints get back on the horse on Sunday with a noon road game at the Green Bay Packers on WXXV on Fox.
