New mechanical and civil engineering program at Naval Construction Battalion Center

The Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport launches the only mechanical and civil engineering program on the Coast.

The program is available for not only Seabees, but local civilians too. The partnership allows students take their undergraduate courses at MGCCC and transfer into Norwich University’s civil engineering program.

The average cost is $250 for active duty and $375 per semester hour for local civilians.

The program is unique for allowing active duty and civilians to learn together, but also for helping sailors move up to the officer ranking without getting out of the military. Navy College Programs Regional Advisor Dr. Darlene Davis said, “Prior to this program and this initiative, to be a part of the Seabee community there was no such thing that they could go from enlisted to officers.”

The program starts this fall. If you’re interested in applying contact the Navy College Office or reach out to Norwich University.
