New Gulfport girls head basketball coach getting settled in

This season, one point separated former Hancock girls head basketball coach Brooke Glass from leading her alma mater to the class 6A playoffs and losing to Gulfport for the third time in 2017.
As of yesterday, Glass is officially the new head coach of the Lady Admirals, meaning she’ll still be facing her former team at least twice a year.
Quite a tough decision for the former Lady Hawk who led Hancock to its last state title back in 2004, but once the opportunity presented itself at Gulfport Glass says she felt compelled to take that leap of faith. “The hardest part was talking to my former players and letting them know my decision. I’m really close with them. I care about each one of them so that was probably the hardest part thus far. I preach to my kids the only way to get better is to get out of your comfort zone and to push yourself, and that was one of the big things for me is my husband said ‘you preach that to your kids. You’ve got to be able to live up to it,’ and that was a huge thing for me in taking this job.”
Glass replaces Donny Fuller who stepped down last month after eight years at the helm. Her first official day on the job will be May 2nd.
