New expansion permit may help create jobs of Port of Gulfport

The Port of Gulfport is starting the New Year on a positive note with their newly issued expansion permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
The permit will allow the port to expand its current footprint by two hundred acres, allowing it to potentially bring more jobs to the Gulf Coast.
It took about seven years to obtain this permit, but construction is now just months away according to port officials.
The estimated cost of the expansion project is reported to be about three quarters of a billion dollars.
