New Curator at Walter Anderson Museum of Art

There’s a new addition at the Walter Anderson Museum of Art in Ocean Springs, but it’s not a piece of artwork hanging on the wall.
WAMA hired Mattie Codling as the museum’s curator late last month. Codling has her Masters in Art History from Florida State. She has worked at multiple museums, including the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art in Biloxi.
Codling tells News 25 she is in the middle of several future projects and says one of her goals is to improve the involvement between the visitor and the museum experience. “I hope to bring to the museum a new life. I think that we have such an incredible treasure in the work of Walter Anderson. He is a world renowned artist, but it seems like so many people from out of the state don’t know about him as much as they should.”
Codling tells News 25 she is hoping to change that. From now on, Codling will be taking care of the museum’s collections and designing exhibitions.
