New casino in the works for D’Iberville

D’Iberville Mayor Rusty Quave has put five years of work into bringing another casino to the city and now the $350 million dream could become a reality.

The process for developers is still in the works. Within 60 to 90 days, those involved will go before the Mississippi Gaming Commission. The casino would be near Fountain Pier which will remain a public domain for residents.

Mayor Quave tells News 25 due to the success of the Scarlett Pearl he knows this casino will bring in even more tourists and revenue for the city and the Gulf Coast. “We don’t want to take anything from any casino. We don’t want to take a piece of that pie. We want to build a pie. We have some ideas and I think we are going to put them in place. With the new development authority and the new tourism authority, we are doing good things and I feel like the whole Coast will benefit from this particular project.”

Mayor Quave tells New 25 if all goes well within the next 60 to 90 days, he hopes to start construction before the year is over.
