New Biloxi restaurant will draw from some Coast favorites

A steak and seafood restaurant will be taking up residence in what was Sal & Mookie’s in downtown Biloxi.

Kevin Fish, who owns the Half Shell Restaurant Group, which owns Half Shell Oyster House restaurants and The Rack House Steaks & Spirits in Gulfport, bought the pizza restaurant property and promised a new restaurant that would not be the same as his existing properties.

Instead, the menu has a taken a bit from both restaurants.

Fish said Friday that the Biloxi location — which doesn’t yet have a name — would offer steaks like Rack House and an array of seafood like crab, shrimp, royal reds, fish and even a lobster tank to pick your own lobster.

“We’ll offer these all ‘normal’  or prepared steamed in our sauces,” Fish said. “Like, you could order your choice of a bunch of options. Say you chose a half-pound of royal reds, a pound of king crab legs, then you pick your sauce options like Half Shell’s garlic butter from the charbroiled oysters or Orleans sauce and they’re steamed in that sauce — it comes out amazing, juicy, flavorful!”

Fish said there also will be a dacquiri bar under the restaurant with crawfish, shrimp and crab boils and there will also be live music.
