NCAA Women’s Basketball: Mississippi State vs. Tennessee

The SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament started Wednesday, but Mississippi State didn’t have to play until Friday’s quarterfinal round. Perks of the number one seed and a double-bye.

MSU cruises to an 83-68 victory, tied for the most points scored in the SEC tourney in school history.

Here’s SEC Coach of the Year Vic Schaefer after the game on battling through a slow start. “Well sometimes when you’re the lower seed you’ve got nothing to lose, everything to win. So you’re a little bit more relaxed. I think we may have been a little tight early, but I thought we really settled in. That’s why I always want them to guard. If we guard and use our anxiety on that end defensively, I think we’ll relax on offense, and so I thought we did that tonight.”

The Bulldogs draw Missouri in tomorrow’s semi-final rematch of the only SEC team to beat the Bulldogs in the regular season. That game tips off at 4 p.m. from Greenville, South Carolina on ESPNU.
